PDP Affirms Maurice Vunobolki as 2027 Adamawa Governorship Candidate

Yola, Adamawa State - May 25, 2026

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa State has officially affirmed Chief Maurice Vunobolki as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general election, in a ceremony marked by strong party unity and political significance.

The affirmation exercise was conducted by Hon. Debo Olugunagba, the Chairman of the PDP National Electoral Committee, who presided over the proceedings before the Independent National Electoral Commission, party stakeholders, delegates, supporters, and members of the PDP family across the state.

The motion for the adoption of Vunobolki’s candidacy was moved by Hon. Jafar Suleiman Ribadu of Yola South and seconded by Hon. Barr. Jabrin Ibrahim Jimeta, Executive Chairman of Yola North Local Government Area, drew loud applause and unanimous endorsement from party faithful from across all the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

Following the formal affirmation, Hon. Debo presented the party flag to Chief Maurice Vunobolki, symbolically confirming him as the PDP’s standard bearer for the 2027 Adamawa Governorship Election.

In his acceptance speech, Vunobolki expressed profound appreciation to the national leadership of the PDP, members of the party’s Electoral Committee, and the Adamawa State PDP Caretaker Committee for what he described as a transparent and people-oriented process.

The governorship candidate stated that his political journey over the past 16 years has been defined by consistent engagement with communities across Adamawa State, stressing that his record of grassroots development and accessibility distinguishes him from other contenders.

“I am the only candidate who has remained consistently with the people over the past sixteen years, with visible records of development across communities and local government areas,” Vunobolki stated.

He further challenged candidates from other political parties to an open public debate on governance, leadership capacity, and developmental vision for Adamawa State, saying the people deserve issue-based politics ahead of the 2027 elections.

Vunobolki formally accepted the party’s affirmation and pledged to work towards inclusive governance, economic growth, and sustainable development if elected governor by the Grace of God.

The event concluded with widespread celebrations among party supporters, who described the affirmation as a major step toward strengthening the PDP’s strength ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Adamawa State and consolidating the developmental strides made by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
