Morris Vunobolki Ignites Adamawa Governorship Race as First PDP Aspirant to Pick Nomination Form
Yola, Adamawa State - May 3, 2026
The battle for the Dougeri Government House has officially commenced, following the procurement of the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms by Chief Dr. Morris Vunobolki of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He is the first aspirant in Adamawa State to do so, setting an early pace among many others in the race.
On Saturday, Chief Dr. Morris Vunobolki was heralded by thousands of enthusiastic supporters who trooped out en masse to receive him at the Yola International Airport, en route to his campaign kick-off in Bekaji. His arrival triggered a carnival-like atmosphere as the crowd erupted in solidarity.
From the airport, Dr. Vunobolki embarked on a lengthy procession through the popular Bank Road, where supporters lined the streets with placards and posters, chanting a rousing welcome-back anthem to a man they are convinced possesses all it takes to succeed Governor Fintiri in 2027.At his campaign office, Dr. Vunobolki—accompanied by his wife—was warmly received amid jubilant chants signaling brighter days for Adamawa. For a moment, it seemed the state stood still in acknowledgment of one of its finest and most authentic democrats.
The PDP chairman was the first to speak, noting that Dr. Vunobolki is the first aspirant in the state to pick up the party’s nomination forms. He described the aspirant as a true democrat: “Dr. Morris is a democrat per excellence. His drive to popularize the spirit of service in politics is what sets him apart. The PDP will support anyone with such a noble drive,” the chairman added. One after another, speakers rose to express why they are rallying behind Dr. Vunobolki. Aisha, leader of the women’s group, declared: “We have found the person to take over from Governor Fintiri. His track record shows he supports women and creates opportunities for them to thrive. That is why we are here today—to assure him of our absolute support.”
Numan Ward II, where the aspirant votes, was equally not left behind in strengthening the support base for their own son. What began as a welcome-back reception soon evolved into a full-fledged political gathering, with party stakeholders and supporters becoming visibly zealous in identifying with the aspirant. They made strong commitments to advocate for his emergence as the party’s flag bearer and ultimately governor of the state come 2027.
In response, Chief Dr. Morris Vunobolki and his wife thanked the party stakeholders and supporters for the overwhelming love shown to him. He acknowledged: “This is support that stems from the heart, and I promise not to let you down if given the mandate.”“I have touched lives and built relationships across every part of Adamawa. Our aspiration is not built on empty promises but on years of visible commitment to the people,” he declared.
He therefore urged the people to critically evaluate all aspirants based on their contributions to society, accessibility, and capacity to deliver meaningful governance. Also speaking at the event, the wife of the governorship aspirant addressed women supporters, commending their loyalty and steadfastness to the movement. In a gesture aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilization, she announced a donation of ₦1 million to the women’s group.
Chief Vunobolki also extended financial support of ₦4 million to youths and support groups, describing young people as strategic partners in the struggle to build a progressive and prosperous Adamawa State. In his closing remarks, Chief Vunobolki once again thanked the mammoth crowd for the reception and urged all supporters, stakeholders, and party members to remain committed to the shared mission of securing victory and ultimately delivering a greater Adamawa for all.
Arguably, if there is any politician homegrown to understand the needs of the people across all 21 local government areas of Adamawa, that politician is Chief Dr. Morris Vunobolki. His pedigree speaks for itself. Having worked in the public sector for decades and through his sojourn in the humanitarian sector, his scorecard makes him the most viable option for governance in the state.
Saturday’s reception is widely seen by political observers as an early signal of Vunobolki’s growing grassroots momentum and increasing acceptability within key PDP support blocs across Adamawa.
