Vunobolki Condemns Hong Attack, Condoles the people
Yola, Nigeria — April 24, 2026
A prominent political figure in Adamawa State, Chief Maurice Vunobolki, has expressed deep sorrow and concern over the recent deadly attack on Hong Local Government Area, allegedly carried out by Boko Haram insurgents, which left several people dead and others sustained injures.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Vunobolki described the incident as “senseless, heartbreaking, and unacceptable,” warning that the recurring violence against vulnerable rural communities underscores the urgent need for more effective security measures across Nigeria’s northeast region.
He extended his condolences to the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri; the traditional ruler of the Huba Kingdom, His Royal Highness Alheri Bulus Nyako, the Tol Huba; as well as the bereaved families and residents of Hong.
“This painful loss is not only for the Huba Kingdom but for Adamawa State and the nation at large,” Vunobolki said, noting that the continued loss of innocent lives reflects a troubling pattern of insecurity that must be decisively addressed.
While offering prayers for the repose of the deceased, he also wished a swift and full recovery to those injured in the attack.
He further called for renewed commitment from relevant authorities to end the cycle of violence and restore peace, safety, and stability to affected communities.
Vunobolki emphasized that the tragedy should serve as a wake-up call to intensify efforts toward safeguarding lives and properties, particularly in rural areas that remain frequent targets of insurgent activities.
The attack on Hong is the latest in a series of violent incidents linked to Boko Haram in Nigeria’s northeast.
