VUNOBOLKI Accepts Call to Run for Governor; Pledges to Consolidate Fintiri’s Gains
Yola, Adamawa State - April 8, 2026
Businessman and community development advocate, Chief Maurice Vunobolki, has formally accepted calls from across Adamawa State to contest for the office of Executive Governor, following a groundswell of endorsements from stakeholders spanning all 21 Local Government Areas.
The endorsements, which took place in Yola the state capital cut across youth groups, women’s associations, community leaders, and political stakeholders, urged Vunobolki to enter the race and build on the developmental strides of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.This endorsement is a reflection of his giant strides in Community development across the 21 LGAs of the state. Vunobolki, a Development Economist served as a Development Consultant for the World Bank conducted investigations on the challenges affecting both rural and urban communities in Adamawa state. He also through the World Bank MCRP engaged in developmental projects in all the critical sectors of the state, including education, health, agriculture and empowerment.
In his responding remark, Vunobolki described the call as “a powerful expression of unity, trust, and shared aspiration for a greater Adamawa.”“I am deeply humbled by the overwhelming show of unity, trust, and confidence expressed by the good people of Adamawa State,” he said.
He emphasized that the movement behind his candidacy reflects a collective desire to sustain progress while addressing lingering challenges in key sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and youth empowerment.
“This call is not just a political gesture; it is a reflection of our shared aspirations for a stronger, more inclusive, and progressive Adamawa,” Vunobolki stated.
While acknowledging the progress made under the current administration, he noted that governance must remain a continuous effort focused on improvement and expansion.
Following what he described as extensive consultations and careful reflection, Vunobolki said he could not ignore what he believes is a clear mandate from the people.Declaring his intention to run for office, he framed his decision as one guided by a sense of duty and conviction. Pledging to prioritize continuity, accountability, and inclusive development if elected.
“With a heart committed to service, integrity, and progress, I declare my intention to contest for the office of the Executive Governor of Adamawa State.”
He concluded by calling for collective action toward building a more prosperous future for the state. Stating that, "the journey begins now"
