No Anointed Candidate for 2027, Says Adamawa APC
Yola, Adamawa State – April 21, 2026
The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed social media claims that the party has an anointed governorship aspirant ahead of the 2027 elections.
Dr. Dogo, the party’s Public Relations Officer, made the clarification during an appearance on The Morning Splash, the flagship breakfast programme of Gotel FM 91.1,
He stated that the APC would strictly follow its constitution in selecting a candidate, either through direct primaries or a consensus arrangement.
“We have no anointed candidate,” Dogo said. “The party will respect due process and the will of its members.”
Responding to questions about the newly constituted executive committee of the party, Dogo expressed strong confidence in the chairman, Hon. Hamza Bello Madagali, to lead the APC to victory in 2027.
“I believe strongly in the capacity of Hon. Hamza Bello Madagali to propel change and instil discipline within the APC. I am absolutely confident he will deliver Adamawa for Mr. President come 2027,” he said.
He also brushed aside concerns over lingering friction between legacy executives of the party and defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a notable departure from typical APC-PDP rivalry, Dogo defended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, a PDP governor, over his decision to align with the federal government.
Dogo argued that the governor’s move was born out of a desire for the people’s welfare, not fear.
“Governor Fintiri believes in the utmost benefits for his people. He will never play politics with the people of Adamawa State. Rather, he will advance what would benefit the people,” Dogo stated.
Discussing strategies for 2027, Dogo praised the party’s leadership and Governor Fintiri for unveiling what he called the Renewed Hope 226 Agenda — a political vehicle he believes will be a game changer in the next election cycle.
“This agenda is about results, not rhetoric. It will reshape the political landscape of Adamawa,” he added.
