POWER GENERATION/SUPPLY UPDATE 27/02/2026
Yola, Adamawa State - February 28, 2026
Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) wishes to inform its esteemed customers that the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has announced that the current average national available generation has dropped to approximately 4,300MW, compared to higher previous levels.
The decline has been attributed to inadequate gas supply to thermal generating stations, which account for the larger share of Nigeria’s power generation mix.
According to NISO, thermal power plants as at February 23, are experiencing a daily gas supply shortfall of approximately 57.5%, receiving only about 42.5% of their required gas volume.
This limitation directly affects overall generation capacity on the national grid.
They also stated that load shedding will be implemented where necessary to maintain grid stability and prevent system disturbances.
Consequently, energy allocation to Distribution Companies (DisCos), including YEDC, has reduced in line with the available generation.
With lower energy allocated to our network, the available supply will be distributed across our franchise based on operational realities.
Supply will improve once generation capacity is restored and our allocation increases.
We solicit your patience and understanding during this period.
Thank you for your continued cooperation.
Signed: Management
