Adamawa Eases Lamurde Curfew, Governor Vows to Prosecute Violence Sponsors

Yola, Adamawa State - February 11, 2026

The Adamawa State Government has relaxed the curfew in Lamurde Local Government Area, permitting movement between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. with immediate effect. This was contained in a statement made available to the press by Humwashi Wonosikou, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri issued a firm warning that security agencies have identified those responsible for the recent unrest and said they will face prosecution.

“This gesture should not be taken lightly,” Fintiri said. “Those behind the violence have been identified and will face consequences. The era of leniency is over; anyone breaking the law will be arrested and prosecuted.”

The governor urged residents to go about their lawful activities without fear, assuring them that the government would safeguard their rights while taking decisive action against anyone threatening public order.

“You have been warned. The government is watching, and justice will be served. Do not test our patience,” he added.

Fintiri also appealed to all parties involved to embrace peace and maintain order in Lamurde.
