Priestly ordination: Catholic Diocese of Yola Ordains New Priests

Yola, Adamawa January 11, 2026

The Catholic Diocese of Yola has ordained three new priests, strengthening the mission of evangelization and service in the Diocese.

The solemn ceremony took place at St. Theresa’s Cathedral, Yola, and was presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, Most Reverend Dr. Stephen Dami Mamza.

The newly ordained priests are Rev. Fr. Thank God Onyebuchi Michael, Rev. Fr. George Mathias Yirau, and Rev. Fr. Paulinus George Hammawa.

Delivering his homily, Bishop Mamza reminded the priests that they are collaborators in the propagation of the Gospel, called to promote unity, love, and communal bonds within the Church and society. He urged them to live lives of humility, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to God’s people.

The colourful ordination Mass drew priests, religious, families, and faithful from across the Diocese, who gathered in joy and thanksgiving to witness the sacred moment.

The ordination marks a significant boost to pastoral work in the Diocese of Yola, as the Church continues to raise servants dedicated to faith, peace, and community development.
