PDP Sets the Pace for Transparent Pre–Local Government Elections in Adamawa State

 Yola, Adamawa - December 16, 2025

Pre–local government elections activities in Adamawa State have continued to gain momentum, marked by growing transparency, strategic coordination, and inclusive leadership within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This was clearly demonstrated at a crucial meeting convened by the Adamawa State PDP Chairman, Hon. Hamza Alhaji Bello Madagali, aimed at reviewing and strengthening the ongoing pre-election processes for the emergence of aspirants ahead of the forthcoming local government elections.

A meeting at the PDP State Secretariat in Yola, which convened the state leadership and all Local Government Party Chairmen, effectively showcased the party's operational strength. According to State Publicity Secretary Dr. Victor Dogo, the detailed briefings presented by the chairmen confirmed exceptional levels of organization, preparedness, and internal unity throughout the state's 21 local councils.

Undoubtedly, the PDP remains the most dominant political party in Adamawa State. However, during his speech, the State Chairman of the party stressed that dominance alone is not enough to remain in power. According to Hon. Madagali, the party must remain proactive, disciplined, and thoroughly prepared to justify the confidence reposed in it by the people. He emphasized that political leadership demands constant self-assessment and strategic planning, especially at the grassroots level, where governance has the most direct impact on citizens.

Reports from the local government chairmen collectively pointed to a well-structured and inclusive pre-election process, reinforcing the image of the PDP as a party that practices internal democracy. Observers note that the approach adopted mirrors the political philosophy and governance style of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, whose prototype emphasizes inclusiveness, fairness, and the principle that no one should be left behind in the political process. This alignment between party structure and government policy continues to strengthen the PDP’s credibility in the state.

Evidently, Adamawa State has increasingly positioned itself as a reference point in democratic practice within Nigeria. Long before the recent push by the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to entrench local government autonomy nationwide, the Fintiri administration had already begun implementing functional local government autonomy in Adamawa. This foresight has not only empowered local councils but has also deepened democratic participation at the grassroots.

As things stand today, the level of preparedness within the PDP under the leadership of Hon. Hamza Alhaji Bello Madagali is widely regarded as excellent. The party’s organizational strength, clear communication channels, and adherence to due process present a model worthy of emulation by other political parties.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of a strategic blueprint to unify diverse interests ahead of the party primaries. The State Chairman stressed that all disputes must be resolved through official party channels to preserve unity. He also directed Executive Committee members to fully execute their duties, stating that collective discipline is essential to secure victory for all PDP candidates in the upcoming local elections. This deliberate approach reinforces the party's commitment to democratic values and responsible leadership in Adamawa State.
