Adamawa State Inks Deals to Boost Power and Launch Electric Transport

 Yola, Adamawa State - September 1, 20205

In its bid to address infrastructure deficits and drive economic progress, the Adamawa State Government has formalized partnerships with two private companies through a Memorandum of Understanding signed at the Governor's office.

The agreements, witnessed by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, target two critical areas: stable electricity generation and modernized, eco-friendly transportation. The Governor stated that these initiatives are central to his administration's goals of fostering industrial growth, creating employment, and elevating the quality of life for residents.

Key Details of the Partnerships:

· Power Sector Enhancement:

The state has partnered with A4&T Power Solutions Limited to develop a robust power generation and distribution network. Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Hon. Adamu Atiku, revealed that the project will attract over ₦80 billion in investment to generate 15 megawatts of electricity over five years.

A4&T CEO, Mr. Ayo Ademilua, confirmed that the company will deploy tailored solutions—including interconnected mini-grids, isolated grids, and extended distribution systems—based on a detailed mapping of the state's needs.

· Transportation Modernization:

The agreement with Sparrow Mobility Limited will introduce electric mobility to Adamawa. The project includes the local assembly of electric motorcycles and tricycles, with plans to deploy 10,000 units within two years. Supporting infrastructure, such as charging stations and an assembly plant, will also be established in-state.

According to Commissioner for Transport, Wunfe Anthony, this will provide safer transport options, significantly reduce carbon emissions, and create new job opportunities for the youth.
