Hong Flood Assessment: Adamawa Speaker Leads On-Spot Visit, Pledges Aid

Hong, Adamawa - August 14, 2025  

The Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, today visited flood-ravaged communities in Hong Local Government Area to assess damages and coordinate relief efforts. 

Accompanied by Hon. Adum John Alaba (Member, Uba Gaya Constituency), Hon. Shelleng (Member Representing Shelleng Constituency), Hon. Usman Inuwa Wa’aganda (Executive Chairman, Hong LGA), and officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), and the Red Cross, the delegation documented extensive damage and pledged immediate relief for affected residents.  

Rt. Hon. Wesley expressed deep empathy for all victims, particularly children and the elderly. He assured communities that findings from the assessment would be presented to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for urgent intervention.  

"*We will prioritize your needs and ensure support reaches you swiftly*," the Speaker stated, urging residents in flood-prone areas to relocate to higher ground to prevent further loss. He further called for improved environmental hygiene to mitigate health risks.  

Earlier, HRH Barr. Alheri Bulus Nyako (Tøl Hoba) separately visited affected zones, commiserating with victims and pledging support to displaced families.
