Governor Fintiri Dons NYSC Uniform, Raises Corps Members’ Allowance to ₦30,000—Sets National Record
Damare, Adamawa State - 1 August, 2025
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has once again solidified his reputation as Nigeria’s most youth-friendly governor, capturing national attention after appearing in full NYSC uniform at the swearing-in ceremony for 2024 Batch B corps members in Damare.
In a symbolic display of solidarity, Governor Fintiri joined the corps members in their iconic khaki attire, emphasizing his administration’s unwavering commitment to youth inclusion and empowerment. The gesture, hailed as unprecedented by attendees, underscored his hands-on leadership style.During the event, Governor Fintiri announced an upward review of the monthly state allowance for corps members from ₦20,000 to ₦30,000—the highest in Nigeria. Adamawa had already led the pack with ₦20,000 while most states offer little or no additional stipends beyond the federal allowance.
"This increment reflects our belief in the potential of Nigerian youth," Fintiri declared. "If we invest in their welfare today, they will drive the nation’s progress tomorrow."
The governor’s appearance in NYSC gear and his policy actions have sparked widespread admiration. Social media buzzed with photos of Fintiri blending seamlessly with corps members, with many users dubbing him "The People’s Governor."
His administration’s youth-centric initiatives include:
₦10 billion Adamawa Youth Empowerment Scheme (providing grants and skills training).
Construction of ultra-modern sports facilities to harness athletic talent.
Free WAEC/NECO registration for indigent students since 2022.
The event reignited conversations about Fintiri’s leadership beyond Adamawa.
