State Moves to Address Drainage Failure, Reassures Public on Infrastructure

In response to Wednesday's flooding near the Total Filling Station, Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, and the Honourable Commissioner for Works and Energy, Hon. Adamu Atiku, alongside senior government officials, conducted an on-site assessment of affected areas on Thursday. 

The tour aimed to evaluate flood damage and formulate solutions to prevent recurrence.

Hon. Atiku, who led the delegation, identified blocked drainage systems as the primary cause of the flooding. Technical experts from Traita (contractor for the nearby flyover project) provided a review during the inspection to address public concerns regarding the project's impact, assuring residents of its compliance and safety.

Deputy Governor Farauta expressed empathy for residents and commuters affected by the disruption, stating: "Government is deeply concerned about the hardship caused by this incident. Swift intervention measures will be taken to avert future occurrences." 

She further urged citizens to actively maintain and protect public infrastructure critical to communal well-being. Professor Farauta reaffirmed Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s commitment to executing people-centric projects that bolster socio-economic growth.

Hon. Atiku commended Governor Fintiri’s unwavering dedication to addressing citizens' welfare, confirming that remedial measures would be implemented immediately to mitigate flood risks.

In a separate event, the Commissioner later attended the commencement ceremony for PAWECCA beneficiary payments at the Government House Banquet Hall, Yola.
