Taraba’s Tourism Revolution!
Taraba State- July 24th, 2025
The Taraba State Ministry of Heritage and Eco-Tourism is charting a bold and refreshing course in the annal of tourism history. The winds of transformation are blowing, and the ministry, under judicious leadership of Gov Kefas Agbu through its Commissioner, Hon Joseph Titus Nagombe and renewed political will, is finally wearing a new face; a face of vision, delivery, and legacy.
Captured in the images below is one of the ongoing projects emerging from the partnership between Taraba State Government and La Campagne Tropicana, a Pan-African hospitality brand renowned for blending culture, eco-tourism, and Afro-centric architecture. What was once a dormant site is now a beehive of indigenous construction.
This structure, known as ‘Yoru Bar’, an African-themed restaurant, features a live cultural display center and an open kitchen where guests can watch traditional cuisine being prepared while enjoying the rich aroma. It is designed with traditional aesthetics, using eco friendly materials, and built under the shade of mango trees. This isn’t just a structure, it’s a political statement. A demonstration that the Taraba State Government is not merely paying lip service to diversification through tourism, but actively laying the foundation for it, brick by brick.
While this particular site takes shape in the heart of Jalingo at the Ministry precisely, political watchers are reminded that it is only one of the flagship projects of the Ministry through their partnership with La Campagne Tropicana. The Zongo Kombi Heritage and Eco-Tourism Master Project, the pride of this administration’s tourism drive, is also making steady progress. In present day political climate and governance realities, where political progress is not only measured in projects but in the people who run them, staff uniforms have been sewn and distributed, not as decoration, but as a declaration: We are ready. The political meaning of this moment cannot be overstated. It is one thing to have a plan on paper. It is another to see hands at work, clay taking shape, and culture coming alive in real time.
The Gov Kefas led-administration understands the optics and the outcomes of good governance. And if politics is the art of making the people believe in possibility, then this project is a manifesto brought to life as it will soon host visitors, conversations, and culture lovers, all eager to experience Taraba in its rawest and richest form.
As we look forward to the commissioning of this and other tourism assets, Tarabans must take pride in the evolving landscape. The political class must rally behind such initiatives, not just for applause but for the long-term dividends they promise in youth employment, revenue generation, and global recognition.
This is no longer a question of culture. It is a question of legacy. And the Ministry of Heritage and Eco-Tourism, once a backbench player, is now a frontline actor in the governance playbook of Taraba State.
