Governor Fintiri Mourns Passing of Former President Muhammadu Buhari

Yola, Adamawa State, July 14, 2025

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday in London.  

In a statement released today, Governor Fintiri extended heartfelt condolences to the Federal Government, the Nigerian people, and the bereaved family, describing the late leader’s demise as "a significant loss to the nation."  

Governor Fintiri honored Buhari’s unwavering dedication to Nigeria’s development, noting his indelible impact during both military and civilian tenures. "President Buhari’s commitment to national unity—especially through periods of profound challenge, including the civil war—stands as a testament to his statesmanship," the Governor stated.  

He further highlighted Buhari’s contributions to critical sectors:  

- Advancing national infrastructure;  

- Revitalizing agricultural initiatives;  

- Strengthening security frameworks.  

"His efforts in stabilizing Nigeria and entrenching democratic values will endure in our collective memory," Governor Fintiri emphasized, the Governor added.

The Governor offered special solace to Aisha Buhari, wife of the late President and daughter of Adamawa State, urging her to "find courage in this moment of grief." He assured her of the state’s solidarity, adding: "May Allah grant you strength, and may cherished memories of your beloved patriarch bring peace to the family."  

Governor Fintiri concluded with a prayer: "May Allah grant Aljanatu Firdaus to President Muhammadu Buhari. May his legacy continue to inspire generations, and may divine comfort uplift all who mourn him."
