Governor Fintiri Eases Lamurde Curfew Amid Improved Security

Daytime Movement Restored as Adamawa Government Urges Peace and Vigilance

Residents of Lamurde Local Government Area in Adamawa State breathed a sigh of relief today as Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri announced the relaxation of a stringent 24-hour curfew imposed following recent unrest.  

Effective immediately, movement restrictions have been scaled back to allow daytime activities between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm daily. The decision follows what the Governor’s office described as a "thorough security assessment" indicating improved stability in the area.  

In a statement issued by Chief Press Secretary Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri urged citizens to leverage the respite to resume livelihoods and community life—but with a firm emphasis on sustaining peace. "Living in harmony isn’t just a virtue; it’s the bedrock of progress for Lamurde and Adamawa," the Governor stressed, underscoring that reconciliation remains critical to long-term development.  

While restoring daytime freedoms, the government reinforced its commitment to safety. Security agencies have been directed to maintain round-the-clock surveillance across Lamurde, aiming to deter further violence and solidify fragile calm. Governor Fintiri appealed directly to residents: "Cooperate with security forces. Share timely information. Our collective vigilance is key to building a stable, prosperous community."  

The partial lifting of curfew signals cautious optimism after weeks of disruption, though authorities remain alert. The state government’s message balances relief with responsibility—encouraging normalcy while calling for united stewardship of peace.
