Adamawa Reallocates ₦22.8bn to Fast-Track Critical Projects in Mid-Year Budget Review

Roads, NYSC Camp, Water Schemes Get Priority as Fintiri Administration Maintains Fiscal Discipline

Yola, Adamawa- July 24, 2025

The Adamawa State Executive Council today approved a 22.8 billion reallocation within its 2025 budget to accelerate infrastructure development and essential services, while maintaining the original 486.2 billion spending ceiling.

Budget Commissioner Emmanuel Pridimso told journalists the strategic virement addresses emerging priorities without increasing debt. "This is fiscal reengineering, not expansion," he emphasized during the briefing at Government House.

Key Project Allocations:

 1. Infrastructure Boost

   - 3bn: Maiha-Mubi Road (24km)

   - 1.2bn: Mubi bypass (5km) to ease cattle market access

   - 2.04bn: New NYSC camp + 199m consultancy

 2. Tourism & Utilities

   - 3.4bn: State Amusement Park modernization

   - 360m: Gulak Water Scheme expansion (12.4km pipes)

   - 650m: 1000KVA generator for Government House

 3. Governance Upgrade

   - 800m: Government House facelift

   - 500m: High Court renovation consultancy

Speaking after the council's brief, Water Resources Commissioner Ayuba Audu reported 81% of LGAs now have active water projects, with the Gulak scheme expected to serve 15,000 residents upon completion.

Women Affairs Commissioner Neido Geoffrey raised alarms after 13 trafficked Adamawa children were repatriated from Anambra. "We urge communities to monitor children's movements, especially during odd hours," she cautioned, pledging stronger prevention measures.

The decision taken at the end of the council’s meeting signals a new beginning for Adamawa State, economic analysts have said. They further urged the government to take steps in implementing every detail to the latter. They also described the reviewed budget as targeted adjustments which show maturity in budget implementation.

Maintaining fiscal discipline (no budget increase)

Prioritizing connective infrastructure

Addressing inflation impacts on operations

However, some observers suggest tighter monitoring to ensure project delivery timelines are met.

They further added that the move focuses on connective infrastructure, could stimulate cross-border trade

The revised budget document will be published online next week, with all projects slated to commence by August.
