Yola, Adamawa- July 30, 2025

The Adamawa State Police Command has launched investigations into two separate cases of culpable homicide linked to domestic violence in Madagali and Gombi Local Government Areas.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Nguroje disclosed that the first incident occurred in Pallam District, Madagali. Preliminary findings indicate that a physical altercation broke out between two co-wives—55-year-old Rhoda Anthony and 36-year-old Victoria Anthony—both married to the same man, Anthony Pallam.

According to the report, Victoria’s 16-year-old son, Ijai Anthony, allegedly struck Rhoda on the head with a piece of wood during the confrontation, causing her to collapse. The Divisional Police Officer in Madagali promptly responded, rushing the victim to Cottage Hospital Madagali, where she was later pronounced dead.

“The suspect and his mother have been taken into protective custody as investigations continue,” Nguroje stated.

In a second, unrelated incident in Fotta District, Gombi LGA, a distress call alerted authorities that Idi Buba had allegedly stabbed his father, Buba Jelli, in the neck and back during a domestic dispute. The victim was rushed to the Primary Health Care Center in Fotta but succumbed to his injuries.

Nguroje confirmed that the suspect was arrested at the scene, and the murder weapon, a knife, was recovered as evidence. Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, condemned the violent acts, particularly those involving family members. He urged residents to exercise restraint, refrain from vigilante justice, and seek peaceful conflict resolution methods.

“Investigations are ongoing, and suspects will be prosecuted upon their conclusion,” the CP affirmed.
