Adamawa Police Confirm 33 Huts Burnt in Lamurde Communal Clash

 

Yola, Adamawa- July 9, 2025


The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed that 33 huts and three flat houses were set ablaze during a violent communal clash in Lamurde Local Government Area. The conflict arose from a long-standing land dispute between the Chobo and Bachama communities.

The clash escalated into widespread destruction, prompting a heavy police deployment to restore order. In a statement issued Wednesday morning, the police assured that calm has been restored, though the aftermath of the violence remains visible.

The statement, signed by Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Nguroje, revealed that additional mobile police units including personnel from Operation Farauta and the Counter Terrorism Unit have been deployed to reinforce security and prevent further unrest.

“A total of 33 round huts and three flat houses were discovered burnt,” the state police command said in the statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje.

He added that, investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violence.
