Governor Fintiri Dissolves Jimeta Modern Market Management Board


YOLA, Adamawa State- June 11, 2025


The Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri CON, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Management Board of the Jimeta Modern Market.  

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Humwashi Wonosikou, the Chairman and all board members were relieved of their duties effective immediately. They have been directed to hand over all government properties to the Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, who will oversee the market’s operations pending further directives.  

Governor Fintiri emphasized the need for a seamless transition, stating:  

"The Ministry of Commerce and Industry must ensure uninterrupted operations and diligently maintain the market’s functionality. The market’s success is integral to the state’s economic well-being, and we expect the ministry to take all necessary steps for its optimal performance."  

The Governor further urged authorities to prioritize the welfare of traders and stakeholders, stressing the importance of fostering a conducive business environment to drive economic growth in Adamawa State.  

Jimeta Modern Market, the largest and most diverse commercial hub in Adamawa State, handles significant volumes of trade and is vital to the region’s economy.
