Dr. Stephen John Honored as Sadaukin Nkafa for Transformative Leadership in Healthcare

In a ceremony rich in cultural significance, distinguished public health expert Dr. Stephen John, PhD, Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics at the Adamawa State Ministry of Health, was conferred the prestigious Sadaukin Nkafa title by the District Head of Nkafa, His Royal Highness Alhaji Mohammed Dahiru.

The honor recognizes Dr. John’s exceptional contributions to healthcare and his unwavering commitment to uplifting underserved communities in Adamawa State and beyond. Notably, he is the founder of Janna Health Foundation, a non-governmental organization dedicated to sustainable development through accessible medical services, health education, and livelihood improvement programs.

Accompanied by Turakin Gaya, Alhaji Haruna Hamidu, alongside close friends and associates, Dr. John led a delegation to Michika to formally express gratitude for the esteemed title conferred on him two years ago. 

The event, attended by traditional leaders, dignitaries, and community members, celebrated his dual legacy as a global health leader and grassroots philanthropist.


A world-renowned authority in disease control, Dr. John holds a PhD in public health and serves as one of only two African representatives on the governing board of the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases. His work as a researcher, lecturer, and humanitarian has spanned continents, earning him accolades for bridging policy expertise with on-the-ground impact.

This title is a call to deepen our service to humanity,” said Dr. John, dedicating the recognition to vulnerable communities supported by his foundation. 

Through Janna Health Foundation, he has spearheaded medical outreach, health awareness campaigns, and poverty-alleviation initiatives.
