2025 Children’s Day: Tinubu Vows Stronger Safeguards for Nigerian Children

President Bola Tinubu marked the 2025 National Children’s Day with a resolute pledge to strengthen protections for Nigerian children, emphasizing their role as the nation’s future leaders.
In a nationwide address, he outlined comprehensive policies under the "Renewed Hope Agenda" to combat bullying, violence, and neglect while promoting education, nutrition, and child welfare.
This year’s theme, “Stand Up, Speak Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation,” aligns with efforts to foster safe environments in schools and online. Tinubu condemned the global and local prevalence of bullying, citing that 65% of Nigerian children face physical, psychological, or social aggression.
The President also emphasized on full implementation of the National Plan of Action on Ending Violence Against Children (2024–2030).
The review of the Child Rights Act (2003) and Violence Against Persons Act (2015) to close enforcement gaps while leveraging the Cybercrime Act to combat online abuse and exploitation.
Speaking further, the President spoke on the new systems like the "Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS)" on how it will enable real-time case tracking. He further mandated the Federal Ministry of Women’s Affairs to establish a department of nutrition to address child malnutrition.
President Tinubu’s address underscored a holistic approach to child welfare, combining policy reforms, community engagement, and accountability mechanisms. His message resonated as a call to action for all Nigerians to prioritize the dignity and future of every child.
