Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Flags-off Flood Relief Intervention

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State officially flagged off the distribution of financial relief to households severely impacted by the 2024 floods. A total of 1,896 households across five local government areas—Numan, Lamurde, Demsa, Michika, and Madagali—are set to receive N250,000 each. The initiative aims to support affected families in rebuilding their lives and recovering from the devastating effects of the floods.

Key Highlights shows that, each of the 1,896 households will receive N250,000 as part of the state government's intervention program.  The funds are intended to aid in the reconstruction of homes, restoration of livelihoods, and overall recovery efforts.  


During the ceremony held in Imburu, Numan Local Government, Governor Fintiri urged beneficiaries to utilize the funds judiciously for their rebuilding efforts.  He emphasized the importance of the intervention in alleviating the hardships faced by flood victims.  


Similarly, the governor advised residents still living in flood-prone areas to relocate to higher ground ahead of the upcoming rainy season.  This proactive measure is aimed at preventing a recurrence of the devastating flood incidents and ensuring the safety of residents.

The relief distribution targets households in the following local government areas, which were among the worst-hit by the 2024 floods:  

- Numan  

- Lamurde  

- Demsa  

- Michika  

- Madagali  


The flag-off ceremony marks a significant step in the state government's efforts to provide immediate relief and long-term support to flood-affected communities. Governor Fintiri's call for prudent use of the funds and proactive relocation measures underscores the administration's commitment to safeguarding the welfare of its citizens and mitigating future flood-related disasters.
