The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) recently organized a media engagement session in Adamawa State to inform journalists about its ongoing reforms, customer service enhancements, and safety initiatives. Held at the company’s corporate headquarters in Yola, the event aimed to foster greater public awareness of YEDC’s operations and recent advancements in the electricity sector.

During the interactive session, YEDC officials provided detailed insights into the new Electricity Act, which empowers states and private investors to play a more active role in the electricity value chain. On customer service, YEDC reiterated its dedication to addressing consumer complaints promptly and improving communication with its customers. The company highlighted its use of digital platforms to streamline processes such as bill payments, meter readings, and fault reporting. Officials encouraged customers to utilize these tools for a more convenient and efficient experience.

Safety was another major focus of the engagement. YEDC emphasized the importance of electrical safety in both residential and commercial settings, warning against illegal connections and the dangers of tampering with power lines. The company outlined its efforts to reduce response times to electrical faults and to educate the public on preventing electrocution and fire hazards.

The event also included a guided tour of YEDC’s electricity distribution station, where journalists observed the technical processes involved in power distribution.
