Nigerian Army Empowers Over 1,000 Adamawa Youths with Social Media Training

YOLA, Adamawa State-In a significant move to promote responsible online behavior and bolster national security, the Nigerian Army has trained more than 1,000 youths in Adamawa State as part of its Social Media Seminar. The program, held in Yola, focused on equipping young individuals with the necessary skills to responsibly navigate the digital world and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s security.

This initiative marked the 39th edition of the Nigerian Army’s quarterly Social Media Seminar, a platform designed to address the evolving challenges and opportunities presented by social media in today’s interconnected society.

Representing the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Emmanuel Ndagi, Director of Research and Development at the Defence Headquarters, underscored the transformative potential of social media as a tool for information dissemination. He emphasized the critical role of young people in shaping the future and urged them to harness their online presence responsibly.

Reinforcing this message, Major General Gold Chibuisi, Chief of Civil Military Affairs (Army, Airforce, and Navy), advised participants to exercise caution in their online activities and avoid sharing content that could undermine national security. He challenged them to put their newly acquired knowledge into practice to drive positive change.

The seminar featured in-depth presentations on key topics such as *"Building an Online Presence for National Security"* and *"Positive Advocacy through Social Media for Enhanced National Security."* These sessions aimed to reshape participants’ understanding of digital engagement and encourage a culture of responsible online conduct.

Participants who spoke with Hicia News lauded the initiative, describing it as both timely and highly relevant to the current digital age.

Beyond fostering digital literacy, the program also cultivates a sense of civic responsibility among the youth, empowering them to leverage their online platforms to promote unity, peace, and national security within their communities and beyond. This initiative highlights the Nigerian Army’s dedication to creating a safer and more secure digital environment for all citizens.
