Adamawa State Launches E-H.E.A.R.T Initiatives to Boost Development Through Sustainable Power Supply

Yola, Adamawa State – February 28, 2025

In a significant step toward improving access to sustainable energy and driving development in underserved communities, the Adamawa State Government today inaugurated the Steering Committee on E-H.E.A.R.T (Energizing Health, Education, Agriculture, Rural Development, and Transportation) Initiatives. The ceremony was presided over by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Awwal D. Tukur, who officially inaugurated the newly appointed Chairman of the Committee.

The E-H.E.A.R.T Initiative is a state-level response to the directive of the National Central Steering Committee, which seeks to establish structures that will ensure reliable and sustainable power supply to unserved and underserved communities across Adamawa State and beyond. The initiative aims to energize key sectors—health, education, agriculture, rural development, and transportation—while advancing transformative rural electrification projects.

In his inaugural address, the newly appointed Chairman Hon. Adamu Atiku emphasized the collective commitment of the Committee to delivering on its mandate. "Alongside my esteemed colleagues, including the Commissioners of Health, Education, Agriculture, Rural Development, and Transportation, we are dedicated to ensuring that the Ministry of Works and Energy Development effectively energizes these critical sectors," he stated.

"Our goal is to drive development and improve the quality of life for all residents of Adamawa State."

The Chairman also highlighted the pivotal role of His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, in championing the initiative. "We deeply appreciate the Governor's unwavering commitment to improving power access and fostering development in our communities. His vision and leadership have been instrumental in bringing this initiative to life," he remarked.

"We are determined to justify the trust reposed in us by working tirelessly to make this vision a reality."

The E-H.E.A.R.T Initiative is expected to have a far-reaching impact on Adamawa State, particularly in rural areas where access to reliable power has been a longstanding challenge. By energizing key sectors, the initiative aims to enhance healthcare delivery, improve educational outcomes, boost agricultural productivity, and facilitate rural development and transportation networks.

As the Steering Committee begins its work, residents of Adamawa State can look forward to tangible improvements in power supply and overall development. The Committee has pledged to prioritize transparency, accountability, and community engagement in its efforts to deliver sustainable energy solutions.

The inauguration of the E-H.E.A.R.T Steering Committee marks a new chapter in Adamawa State's journey toward sustainable development, underscoring the government's commitment to empowering communities and driving progress across the state.
